North Florida Sewing Center

The mission of the North Florida Sewing Center, Inc., is to provide a safe space for collaborative efforts using needlework arts to promote health and sustainability for humans, animals and/or the environment. NFSC offers classes and volunteer service days and opportunities for internships. Volunteers age 8-108 are welcome though minors must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. High schools students accrue Bright Futures Scholarship hours working with us. College students often get credit for their hours with us. Adults and seniors/retirees enjoy meaningful volunteer work with a diverse group of new friends while learning new skills. Sign up for our newsletter nfsewingcenter@gmail.com to be invited to service days, classes, events, etc. NFSC volunteers are also available for simple mending and repairs of clothing and other projects. We can make custom quilts or finish quilts. We have quilting machines and can do bindings. We accept donations of fabrics, sewing machines, sewing tools, UFOs (unfinished objects), etc to use in our work helping others.

Our primary work is teaching and engaging volunteers at the North Florida Sewing Center. We distribute most of what we make (pads, quilts, animals beds, fidget mats, etc) at no charge to needy people. We do sell a small portion of what we make to raise funds for our "Stitching for Good" charity projects. We also provide sewing services for modest fees when possible. We are NOT tailors so do not make clothing or do difficult alternations. Come volunteer with us! It's fun and good for your heart!
